June 15, 2021 Learning and Reflections, Programme Blogs Community of Practice Day – 24 March 2021 Resource On March 24th 2021, the Tackling Child Exploitation (TCE) Support Programme hosted its fourth community of practice (CoP) event, attended by the TCE programme team, Delivery Partners and BSP alumni. The focus was on sharing key themes identified from two years of working with local areas delivering Bespoke Support Programmes. The CoP day featured a series of sessions, each consisting of a presentation, breakout discussion and bringing participants together for reflective conversations. Recordings of some of these presentations and links to the resources can be found on the asset cards below. Risk assessing child (sexual) exploitation By Helen Beckett The first session presented by Dr Helen Beckett (Safer Young Lives Research Centre, University of Bedfordshire) discussed how we conceptualise risk in relation to child exploitation and some of the problems with risk assessment before outlining the work TCE is planning in this area in the third year of the Programme. Dez Holmes (Research in Practice) brings together an evidence base for thinking critically about the reconfiguration of services – termed by TCE as vertical and horizontal expansion and/or integration. Importantly, this presentation reflected on how TCE shares and amplifies learning generated by the sector to the national government.
